Christening of the "Bob Duff"

Joanne Duff christening the Bob Duff

Members young and old were present recently at the christening of our newest surf boat, named after the late esteemed Life Member, Bob Duff. Warm sunshine and a gentle surf welcomed the crews first row of this new boat, which was proudly sponsored by Your Style Designer Home Additions and Wahoo Pools. Joanne Duff helped to wet the bow of the boat with some champagne, and a special pour over the bow rollock, which was Bob Duff's postion in the crew over 55 years ago. Then our crews were like kids in a toyshop as they each lined up to have turns at crewing the new craft.

Top 10 finish in the Ocean Thunder Pro Surf Boat Series

In 2007/08, the North Curl Curl boaties competed in the exciting summer series of high profile professional Surf Boat races – the eVive Ocean ThunderPro Surf Boat Series. This event is restricted to 24 Elite Open Men’s Crews and 12 elite Women’s Crews from around Australia, in a series created especially for television viewing with a format that is extreme, impactive and entertaining.

Ocean Thunder

The series was run at Dee Why Beach over four rounds. Whilst the Your Style crew were finding their feet in Round 1 finishing in 11th place, they suprised even themselves in Round 2 by taking our 2nd place, being very unlucky not to take out the event from the highly fancied Skilled Services crew from Avoca Beach. In Round 3, another consistant effort from the crew saw them come in in 3rd place, meaning they were 3rd overall leading into the final Round 4. Unfortunately they were unable to maintain their good form, and didn't make it to the finals in the final round.

Overall the Your Style boys came in at 9th position for the series, which is a great effort considering this is their first attempt at this series, which has them up against the best crews in Australia.

And as a fitting result, Shaun Stacey was honoured with the Best Sweep of the Series Award. Congratulations Shaun, Justo and the rest of the boys !
